CGC News – June 22nd 2016

The last two competitions have been all about Joe Gallagher winning on Sunday on 39 points and also Tuesday’s nine hole on 21.  Joe is taking the success in his stride and not a bit bothered about pipping Hugo in both competitions. On Friday last the minor league team secured 3 1/2 matches at home to Portsalon. They have it all to do in the away match this Thursday at 4.30pm. The previous day against Portnoo in the away leg of the Donegal League, the team, under the watchful eye of Denis Boyle, got through to the next round.

We wish Briide Doherrty the very best in her lady captain’s day on Saturday. There is a competition for men after 12.00. The Euro Last Man Standing has been a great success and with one day’s matches to go there about 10 people still left with a chance of winning. They are sitting around 43-48 points with 4 matches left. Open Week is fast approaching, commencing on July 10th. Adult beginners are welcome every Monday around 6.30 pm. Also well done to last year’s captain and a few Donegal League players who returned to Portnoo on Saturday and managed to secure first place in the Classic on Saturday
