In the scramble in aid of Breast Cancer research the winning team were Joe Friel, Dan Mulhern and James Collum. Chris c Callion, Patick Mc Ginley and Sadie Marie Curran were second. Thanks to all who supported it and to Bridie for providing the very tasty burgers. On Sunday last third spot went to Joe Mc Garvey on 37 pts. Great to have him back and hasn’t lost the touch around the greens. Second on 38 was Joe Friel junior and in 1st place once again was the country boy, Hugo cannon. There is no stopping him and just .5 away from single figures. He has to be favourite for Noel Ó Gallchóir’s Captain’s Day that takes place on Saturday 27th. Please note that the Shootout will now take place on Wednesday at 6.00pm. This has been changed from Thursday to accommodate the Donegal league match away to Letterkenny. Good luck to Denis and the team. The annual club outing may now be brought forward by two weeks to the 15th /16th of September. Sean will have all the details by the weekend and he will be looking for feedback. We wish every happiness to our very loyal club members Chris and Brian Cannon who were spotted celebrating 50 years of marriage. Brian thinks he has been the secret to their 50 years of bliss. Good luck to Noel in his preparations for Captain’s Day and to win it prepare by going as far away as possible to a country music show, jive the night away and get home just in time for golf. That’s Hugo’s recipe for winning so regularly. Club Classic is on September 9th.
There was a great turn out for the scramble on Monday and it was won by Peadar Curran, Vincent Collum and Patsy Mc Vicar on a great score of 54 1/2, three ahead of second place Chris Mc Callion, Brian Mc Gee and Joe Mc Garvey. Bernie Mc Callion was Sunday’s winner on 36pts. Captain’s Day is only two weeks away and meanwhile, a Donegal League fixture in Letterkenny has to take place. Our Classic is arranged for September 9th and the away trip confirmed for the last weekend of September. Unless you read it in these notes regard reported big scores by some Cloughaneely members in other articles as “fake” news.
